PM to Meet with Current and Future Members of Government

PHNOM PENH: Interim Prime Minister and President of the Cambodian People’s Party, Hun Sen, will meet with ministers and officials of both the current government and the upcoming government at CPP headquarters on August 10.

After his party secured a landslide victory in the 2023 general election last month, Prime Minister Hun Sen announced he would resign his position on August 22, providing the opportunity for his son, Dr. Hun Manet to continue in his stead.

On August 7, King Norodom Sihamoni approved the appointment of Hun Manet as prime minister, authorizing him to form a new Council of Ministers for parliamentary approval on August 21. This will be the first time many Cambodians experience the leadership of someone other than PM Hun Sen, who has been in office for 38 years. He says his decision is meant to maintain stability and peace in the country.
